Spring Knit List
I finished the Lakes Pullover by Ozetta this week—a gift knit for a friend. I pushed to finish it in time for her birthday so I could deliver it in person, and instead of feeling burnt out by rushing to get it done, I immediately cast on another.
It’s been a long time since I’ve felt this inspired to knit. My Ravelry queue is a mile long, and I haven’t sifted through it in ages, but I’m making a list of projects I want to work through this spring.
If I’m being reasonable about how much I can accomplish, and I’m prioritizing yarn I already have in my stash rather than buying more, this is how I plan to spend my knitting time over the next couple of months:
Another Lakes Pullover by Ozetta
I’m a project repeater. I love using patterns I pay for more than once. It’s like following a recipe in the kitchen. It can feel stressful the first time you bake something, but once you’ve got the techniques down and you know the recipe is reliable, that’s when you can play around.
I knit my first Lakes Pullover using the yarn the pattern called for, which was WoolDreamers La Rinconada in the color cacao. This time, I’ll be experimenting with Knit Picks Simply Wool. I’ve used this yarn for sweaters in the past, and I especially like it for knitting kids’ garments because it isn’t too scratchy.
I’ll be knitting this in the smallest adult size for my 11-year-old. It’ll be oversized, but that’s the way this style of sweater is often worn, especially for those knitting it as a “dupe” for Babaá’s Sweater No. 51.
The Sophie Hood by Petite Knit
I have three balls of Jamieson Shetland Marl in the color autumn in my stash, and I’ve been dying to knit something with it. The problem is that the Sophie Hood pattern calls for a worsted weight yarn, but this is bulky weight. Still, I plan to use it and hope the hood will turn out oversized in a cozy sort of way.
The Hobbiton Vest by Fabel Knitwear
I started this project back in Fall 2023 but abandoned it. We’d just moved and life was chaotic, so the project fell off my radar. At this point, I don’t know if I’ll finish what I started or rip back and begin again. Either way, I’ll be finishing this vest.
The Felix Pullover & Felix Cardigan by Amy Christoffers
Back in 2024, I made two Felix cardigans—one for my daughter and one for myself. I also began a Felix pullover but never made it past the body to the sleeves. Unfortunately, all three ended up fitting poorly (my fault, not the pattern), so I’ll be reclaiming the yarn.
I may try to knit another Felix pullover after, or I may decide to hold the Plötulopi double and make myself the Roomy Raglan by Jules Efterfield. Or both!
A Vest
I’ve been meaning to add some vests to my wardrobe. Right now, I’m considering Gan by Ailbíona McLochlainn using the mod notes from Kettuknits, the All Seasons Vest by Noriko Ichikawa, or the September Slipover by PetiteKnit.
And as always, I’ll have a pair of my trusty boot socks on my needles at all times as well.
This list should take me through spring and possibly into summer, depending on how much time and motivation I have for knitting in warmer weather. After that, I’ll start looking for a sweater pattern for my husband’s next birthday. That, or I’ll knit a shorter version of the Tamarack sweater—another repeat knit.
