It's Been Awhile
Since I've posted a YouTube video
Last month, I received an e-mail from YouTube kindly informing me it’d been six months since my last upload, and I had 30 days to meet the criteria or they would demonetize me.
Fair, I suppose.
Still, I was shocked so much time had passed. I had shorts I meant to publish back in January to keep my channel in active status, but I knew I was hanging on by a thread. I wanted to keep things going just enough to make an easy comeback someday—once my health finally allowed.
But then I had a freak health crisis in January, and all my plans and priorities changed. I completely forgot about my channel.
I’ve had time to heal since January, and every time I start to feel better, my brain comes back online with a vengeance, trying to make up for lost time. I’m left to somehow wrangle the overwhelming onslaught of ideas and energy.
I’ve been knitting up a storm this spring at a pace I haven’t maintained since before my youngest was born, so when I got the letter from YouTube, something clicked into place. It felt like a sign to start back up again, and I was ready.
To keep things realistic—because I’m still not sure where my health is taking me at any given time—I’ll be scaling way back on the type of videos I create going forward. In the past, I’ve shared all kinds of things: home renovation projects, goat births on the farm, favorite recipes… All of that takes a lot more work to capture and edit into something coherent than videos where it’s just me and the camera: knitting, chatting, and sharing my projects with fellow yarn enthusiasts.
Right now, I need simple.
For now, my focus on YouTube will be mostly on what I’m knitting, with some life updates and other handcrafts mixed in for fun now and then.
I may still film the occasional garden tour or baby goat video, but I’d be more inclined to post that stuff here on Substack rather than YouTube anyway. My range of topics on Substack is broader.
Anyway, without further ado, my latest upload. And if you’ve already watched, thank you so much for the warm welcome back.
